The iAudio G3 is an excellent, versatile player with a compact design. This player is functional for the casual listener as well as the athlete and merits the “TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award.”
For $129.00, you get many practical features, like an FM radio, recorder, calendar and removable disk function. The downside to this mp3 player is it doesn't offer any stopwatch functions. If you need a player that times laps, tracks your calories and records your distance, this isn't the device for you.
The G3 has a ton of features including all standard mp3 player functions like an equalizer, repeat, shuffle and sleep timer. Some extras include a calendar, line-in/radio recording, voice recording, lyric display, an FM radio and a removable disk function.
Though this player doesn't have a stopwatch, we felt all of the extra features make up for it. The iAudio G3 has more features than any other sport mp3 player we reviewed.
The Cowon iAudio G3 doesn't have specialized sports functions.
The iAudio G3 will play for an impressive 50 hours on a single AA battery. This is an exceptional player for travel, camping or anytime you need extended listening time.
The small size and lightweight (1.27 oz. without the battery) makes the iAudio comfortable to wear during exercise.
The joystick on the right side of the player makes browsing your media library a breeze during casual listening. However, while running, the joystick is harder to use than a simple button.
The G3 will play five different music formats. It will play all of the standard files including mp3, asf, wma, ogg, and wav. This is a big timesaver because you won't have to convert your music.
We emailed Cowon for help and they responded quickly with relevant information. You can reach customer support by phone or email. We would recommend using their online documentation to find the answers to most of your questions.
The iAudio by Cowon is small in size but has a huge battery life and tons of features. At $129.00, the price is reasonable. The one feature it doesn't offer is a stopwatch, which may be a deterrent for athletes.
